Don’t make the obvious more obvious, can you believe the phenomenal capitalisation the media giants are making from the recent passing of Michael Jackson. Everyone, literally everyone seems to be capitalising from his Death, a surge of Michael Jackson memorabilia and merchandise hits eBay, major television networks around the world re-schedule programmes to make room for tributes to the King of Pop. I mean the list is endless, he’s only been dead a few days and many of the media giants see it as an opportunity to make money.
I spent two full days writing a script for an independent radio documentary about Michael Jackson. Can I point out I decided to do this unpaid and distribute it free of fees and charges to allow his fans to hear a brief history of his incredible musical talents.
Michael Jackson 360 seemed to be an appropriate name as I wrote about his childhood, Jackson 5, his solo career, the child abuse cases and of course his death. Trying to bloody write it to fit the 30 minute length we initially agreed on was hard but I did it and can’t wait to hear the finished production.
It’s going to air on a number of radio stations around the world next week and I hope everyone enjoys it as I did writing it. I should let you in on a secret, I’m not actually a fan of his music but I do understand millions of people are.
