#1 Comment I Hear From Clients…

When I speak to clients, they almost always say this.  Virtually every email from clients has this somewhere in the body of the message.  It’s something I learned many years before I ever stepped a foot into the voiceover, acting and entertainment business.   We all should do our very best, that’s a given.  Certainly “seeing” the big picture, that is, understanding that your contribution to a project is only one of perhaps many elements.  No

Got Recording Questions?

I don’t know who visits this blog, as not everyone leaves a comment. But it really is cool when someone with some marketing smarts and who shares a good resource drops by and leaves a comment which may benefit members of the voiceover community. I’ve just learned of an interesting site, from a guy named Justin who recently left a comment here.  It’s called RecordingQuestions.com , which is a member-based recording community on the internet.A quick

Now that’s the way to think about a job

My friend Pam Tierney told me a number of weeks ago about a wonderful blog called The Simple Dollar. I’ve been enjoying the posts there every since. Today’s, called What is a “Good Job?” really hits it out of the park for me. I love my job, not because of the money involved, but because I love telling stories and now that’s what I get to do all day long, every day.

When Business Gets Slow, Are You Covered?

Whats your game plan when business gets slow? Are you COVERED? Compensation is the direct result of habits and stimulating it requires fostering the specific habits of Organization, Vacation, Evaluation, Relation, Education, and Dedication. Organization is an ongoing task that is often overlooked until we are completely overwhelmed and forced to deal with the ramifications of clutter and procrastination! Vacation or simply taking the time to relax, rest, and rejuvenate is just as necessary to

I volunteered to narrate for Hearthebill.org

I am proud to announce that I’ve volunteered as a reader at HearTheBill.org which was founded to provide an audio version of the healthcare bill currently being heatedly debated in Washington DC. All the narrators are volunteers and together, we are providing America with the ability to better understand what it is our politicians are trying to achieve with this bill. I hope through our efforts, we can get people to a place where they can actually support this important legislation.

blog action day 2009

I think this is the third one I’ve participated in and you should consider being a part of it. Last year over 12,000 blogs participated. This year’s topic for our October 15th posts is Climate Change. If you have a moment, please let others know about the day on your blog leading up to the event. It’s a cool thing – nobody tells you what to write on the topic, just write your thoughts. Discussion can make a difference…I hope. Bookmark to: Hide

Hillary Huber Wilson – 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards Announcer Not an actual award for Hillary Huber Wilson but rather another year serving as primary announcer for the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences 61st Annual Prime Time Emmy Awards. You can check out some of her photos from the event here. By all accounts, the show was a critical and ratings success. I only caught part of the show but Hillary sounded great. Well done!
