As a voice-over artist, one of the more aggravating, least interesting parts of your job is probably keeping track of your various income sources for your tax return each year. But I will let you in on a little secret: it is really important that you do, so that you don’t pay too much to the IRS each year. Whether you “Talk to the Box” (as in boxed tax software) to complete your tax return or use a tax professional, making sure you report your income correctly can save you
I’ve been a die-hard Star Wars fan since well before that June 1977 story in Time Magazine put the rest of the world on alert as to what was coming. So you can imagine the thrill I got at becoming even a small part of that much larger world. The people at Lego have created a new online game using the characters from the Clone Wars animated series. To promote it, they’re producing a “mini-movie” about “The Quest for

Working on garnering a new client? You’ll never even get a chance to send her/him a demo unless you get past your first audition. Huh? Yeah, you know what I’m talking about. It goes back to the old saying, “You never get a second chance at a first impression.” That first impression may be in an email, but more likely it’ll boil down to a phone call. Writing copy has been part of my past as a producer/creative, and was enlightening. This sort of thing can help those just
What a wonderful day in Los Angeles with friends from several years as well as brand new friends. In fact, I’ll say that as much as I keep coming to the Dan O’Day Summit each year for what I learn, it’s every bit as much for who I get to see and meet and spend time with while I’m here. The day started with a journey inside the mind of Dan O’Day as he took us through his process of writing a radio ad campaign for a client in Ontario. Lots of good insights into
The day started very early for my oldest son Eric and me because we were catching the first flight out to Los Angeles. We’re in LA for the 14th Annual International Radio Creative and Production Summit hosted by Dan O’Day. This is Eric’s second time to attend and my 13th. After a bit of a delay at the airport because of a flight attendant who was late arriving, we were on our way. After collecting our luggage and picking up our rental car, we were off to a lunch meeting with
